Division Recommendations Based on Player's Age/Experience

Below are the NBLL Board of Directors recommended division placement based on the player's age and baseball experience on 8/31/2024.  To view more information about each division, click here.

Age on 8/31/2024 Elegibility
5 years oldAll players should register for tee ball
6 years oldFirst time players should register for tee ball. Kids with one or more year of experience should register for Single A.
7 years oldFirst time players should register for Single A (Coach Pitch). Players who can reliably play catch at a distance of about 30 feet and can hit a pitched ball may sign up for Single A or AA (Machine Pitch).
8 years oldFirst time players may sign up for Single A (Coach Pitch) or AA (Machine Pitch) based on their comfort with throwing and catching a ball. Players with at least one year of experience should sign up for AA (Machine Pitch).
9 years oldPlayers may sign up for AA (Machine Pitch) or AAA (Player Pitch). Players with at least one year of experience at AA and any players who are ready for a player-pitch division should register for AAA. Players who sign up for AAA must attend assessments, and any players not drafted onto an AAA team will be reassigned to AA. Players must play AAA or higher to be eligible for post-season tournament teams (“All Stars”).
10 years oldPlayers should generally sign up for AAA. Most 10 year-olds play AAA, but more advanced players may try out for Majors. Please contact the VP of Majors if you would like your 10 year-old to be considered for the Majors division. All players must attend assessments. It may be appropriate for an inexperienced 10 year-old to play AA, as well. Players must play AAA or higher to be eligible for post-season tournament teams (“All-Stars”) and must play Majors to be eligible for the 12-and-under team.
11 years oldPlayers should sign up for Majors, although inexperienced players may play AAA. All players must attend assessments. Players who attend Majors assessments but are not drafted to a Majors team will be assigned to AAA. Players must play AAA or higher to be eligible for post-season tournament teams (“All Stars”), and must play Majors to be eligible for the 12-under team.
12 years oldAll players must play Majors, no exceptions. All players must attend assessments and all registered 12 year olds will be drafted onto a Majors team. Players will be eligible for post-season tournament teams ("All Stars").
